Leadership

  President – John Durkin, MD
Dr. Durkin is Residency Program Director, Assistant Professor, at the UNM Department of Dermatology. He received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency at Drexel University where he served as Chief Resident. His specific areas of clinical interest include digital imaging and diagnostic techniques, such as dermoscopy, optical coherence tomography and reflective confocal microscopy. He is also interested in pigmented lesions (moles) and melanoma, hereditary cancer syndromes, and noninvasive treatment of skin cancer.  

 

  Vice President – Brad Bowen, MD
Dr. Bowden a board certified dermatologist, grew up in Texas and practiced there for 25 years before moving to Santa Fe with his partner and starting Dermatology Partners of Northern New Mexico.

 

  Secretary/Treasurer – Deeptej Singh, MD
Dr. Singh earned admission to the Seven Year Accelerated Medical Program at Boston University. In the School of Medicine, Dr. Singh completed various projects on cancer, including skin cancer, winning the Anne and David Mishel Cancer Research Award, established to recognize the individual who most distinguished himself in the area of cancer research or unusually empathetic and compassionate care of cancer patients. He has been published in high-impact dermatology journals, speaks at national dermatology conferences, and authored a chapter for the American Acne and Rosacea Society’s textbook.

 

  Educational Program Director – Ethan Levin, MD
Dr. Levin specializes in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (Mohs) and reconstruction for skin cancer. He has performed more than 12,000 of these procedures since completing training. Dr. Levin has published more than sixty peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook articles encompassing dermatologic surgery, psoriasis, and phototherapy. He is an editor of the two-volume textbook, Mild-to-Moderate Psoriasis (Third Edition) and Moderate-to-Severe Psoriasis (Fourth Edition).

   Immediate Past President – Michael B. Chang, MD
Dr. Chang is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon.  After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Chang completed his medical training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.  His post-graduate training included a residency in dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology also at Mayo Clinic.

 

Council Member – Catherine Tchanque-Fossuo, MD
Dr. Tchanqué-Fossuo is a board-certified dermatologist.  She graduated from the Univeriste Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France. She received a Master of Science degree in Toxicology from American University, and her Doctor of Medicine from Michigan State University. She completed her residency in Dermatology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where she received extensive training in all aspects of dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, laser and dermatologic surgeries.

 

  

  Executive Director – Christine Cotter
Ms. Cotter brings more than 20 years experience in managing and working with membership organizations, including the American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians, American Psychiatric Association district branches, Maryland and District of Columbia Society of Clinical Oncology, and others.  Cris works with our boards and volunteers and is responsible for the administration of the Society, as well as membership retention and services.
